La gestión de riesgos es un enfoque estructurado para manejar la incertidumbre relativa a una amenaza a través de una secuencia de actividades que incluyen evaluación del riesgo, planeación y ejecución de estrategias para manejarlo y mitigación del riesgo utilizando recursos gerenciales.
Dichas estrategias pueden incluir transferir el riesgo a otra parte, evadir el riesgo, reducir los efectos negativos del riesgo y asumir algunas o todas las consecuencias de un riesgo particular.
En el entorno de la seguridad para cualquier persona u organización inciden permanentemente las variables del orden público, político, social y geográfico. El diseño de dispositivos de seguridad integral fundamentados en la gestión de riesgos y la medición continua de su eficiencia es la mejor estrategia de prevención.
